Zugegeben, vielleicht bin ich manchmal etwas oberflächlich und achte im ersten Moment zu sehr auf Äußerlichkeiten. Denn es waren die Schminkefressen der TRASHCAN DARLINGS, die mich ihnen gegenüber immer voreingenommen empfinden ließen. Doch nach kritischer Begutachtung dieser DVD muss ich mir eingestehen, angenehm überrascht worden zu sein. Zumindest musikalisch, denn ich hätte hinter der Glam-Fassade wirklich Geschmackloseres erwartet. Stattdessen ertönt einwandfreier Punkrock. Da kann ich nicht meckern. Was die DVD betrifft, so bekommt man inhaltlich jede Menge zusammengetragenes Live-Material geboten, dessen unterschiedliche Sound- und Bildqualität von gut bis mangelhaft reicht. Zwischendurch gibt es dann immer wieder unterhaltsame Interviewsequenzen aus dem Tourleben der Norweger zu solch üblichen Themen wie Sex, Drugs & Rock’n’Roll. Auch kommen ehemalige Bandmitglieder zu Wort. Außerdem findet man zwei Videoclips zu den Songs „I just wanna die (on a chemical high)“ und „Peggy-Sue is dead“. Und auf obligatorisches Bonusmaterial braucht man hier ebenfalls nicht zu verzichten. (90 Min.)

Trashcan Darlings – ’10 Years of Trash‘

10 years already!… Yes, this is the 10 year anniversary DVD of Norwegian glam punks TRASHCAN DARLINGS, a band that you probably already know if you’re a regular on this website and a band that you should definitely know if you’re into punk rock and glam rock. 16 songs including live performances, promo videos, TV appearances and lots of interviews with Chris Damien Doll and Strange? Gentle who started the band 10 years ago as well as the other guys. It is also nice to be able to see former members talk about their various experiences in the band and this DVD is a good way to know more about the history of the TRASHCAN DARLINGS since you’ll even find rare images from the early shows (there’s even footage of their very first show!) to the last ones with songs from their last realease ‚Tunes from the Trashcan‘. Hardcore fans will also be able to hear two brand new songs: ‚Me Punk, You Fuck!‘ and the killer ‚European Suicide Bombers‘ and people who never had the chance to see the band live will get an idea of what a TRASHCAN DARLINGS show is. Watching this DVD makes you realize that the DARLINGS kept on getting better year after year so their next album should be a blast. 90 minutes of lipstick, fun and punk rock tunes.
