How do you feel as an
ex-Trashcan?
I feel good, focused on other projects.
How was the last gig in Oslo for you?
I thought it was a worthy way to say goodbye. Nice to see the fans have
one last redemption. We owe them a huge thanks! I didn't feel the lament
I thought I would feel. It was great fun and I didn't think of it as our
last ever show at all.
Have you realized that there will be no more
Trashcan Darlings?
Yes, definitely. I got over the idea that this had come to an end pretty
right away. Strange? Gentle brought the news to a rehearsal and of course
I dwelled on it a little while, thinking it sucked and what now and whatever,
but what can you do? This was a thing waiting to happen and I understand
and respect his priorities 100%.
A classic one: You were on tour in Germany a
couple of times. What is your best / worst tour memory?
Have a lot of good memories. Of course it's difficult, if not impossible
to pick one certain incident but being in new places and seeing new people
and fans is a blast. And of course all the parties along the way. Can't
remember all of them though. The worst memory I can think of right now
was a club in Vienna called Movimento. One single lightbulb in the ceiling
and horrible conditions for gigs. My drumkit could not stay in one position,
(one of, if not the worst thing about drumming). Every drum and every
stand were all over the place. Sleeping facilities were not top notch
down there either. Dog hair and tomato sauce on the mattresses and cats
running around.
What comes to your mind when you think of your
time as a Darling?
Great joy, new friends, experienced a great deal of different music/bands,
a lot of travelling, hard work and numerous blisters on my hands and layers
upon layers of make-up.
During your last shows you played some new songs
which you have never played before and said you would put on the next
album. What happens with a song like "Sick Of War" now?
We have included "Sick Of War" on a few other occasions as well.
I didn't want it to be a part of the last setlist, simply because I don't
like it.
Are there any plans to release more Trashcan
Darlings stuff in the future? For example material from the 10-Year anniversary
gig, a live album or another DVD?
We already put a DVD out there and I really don't see a live album coming
out in the future.
When you played in Oslo you often gave new bands
like "Hell Dörmer" and "Hollywood Vampires" a
chance to play in front of a bigger crowd. Did you select your own supportbands?
Do you support new bands with other things?
Both "Hell Dörmer" and "Hollywood Vampires" are
friends of ours and besides it's impossible not to cross paths with other
rock bands in the area that wear make-up. Oslo is so small. We selected
them ourselves. I support newcomers with my presence at gigs. Every once
in a while I buy their records.
There's a lot of different bands and a many
sided music scene in Oslo / Norway, but I don't know any other band that
combines Punk with Glamrock like Trashcan Darlings does. When people start
to call for a reunion in a few years, is there a chance that you will
play together again?
I can't imagine something like that will happen.
What will you do in the future? Will you continue
to make music and what kind of music?
Personally I will never give up on music. A friend and I are in the making
of something. It's lightyears from Glamour Punk. We'll have to see what
happens. Frankie, Chris and myself have stayed together musically so that's
exciting and fun.
